The victim in Friday afternoon’s fatal collision involving three cars and a tractor-trailer on State Routes 5 and 20 in Aurelius has been identified.
State Police say Raymond Swank of Union Springs was driving his tractor-trailer west at around 1:30 when he failed to slow down for stopped traffic in a work zone and struck a BMW driven by 74-year-old Anthony Carnevale. The impact caused a chain reaction accident involving two other vehicles. Carnevale was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger and the driver of one of the other cars suffered injuries.
Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
