We have an update on Casey Park’s new skatepark.
On Thursday, Auburn City Council voted to accept $150,000 in grant funding from the Emerson Foundation to go toward the park. In total, $909,696.10 was secured by the city.
They also voted to award Grindline Skateparks Inc out of Seattle the bid to construct the new facility.
Councilor Terry Cuddy said he’s excited for construction to begin, telling council “the buzz about this park was great and to see it one step closer is just thrilling.”
Councilor Ginny Kent added that she believes it will generate more tourism to the city by drawing people from neighboring areas to the park.
Construction on the new skatepark is expected to begin in June and be completed in October.
