An upcoming event at the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES will give you a look at different careers in the food and agricultural industries as well as one group’s efforts to help end hunger.
Growing Hope will include a classroom/shop tour from Katie LaFave, BOCES Plant & Animal Life Science Teacher; a snapshot of the 2022 agricultural census from Dan Welch with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County, and a panel discussion on food and agricultural career pathways with local stakeholders.
Southern Cayuga Future Farmers of America will also use the event to kick off their 2024 Growing Hope Globally project. You can hear about their work locally with the King Ferry Food Pantry as well as supporting indigenous farmers in Guatemala.
The March 8 event can be attended either in person or virtually. Individuals can register online here. Student groups can register here. Students can attend for free while there is a $10.00 fee for adults.
