It’s September, and that means United Way of Cayuga County is preparing for its annual Campaign Kickoff/Member Agency Fair.
Free and open to the public, the family-friendly event will include food trucks, raffles, games, music, $5 kids’ haircuts, and more. Speaking with FLX Local Media, Julisa Stone-Szpaicher with United Way said the free event serves not only as the official start of the nonprofit’s fundraising season, but also allows the public to meet with member agencies that directly benefit from donations to United Way.
“It’s like a pep rally to get everyone excited about the campaign. It’s an opportunity to meet those member agencies so that you can talk one-on-one with people who are providing those services that either you support or you need.”
Stone-Szpaicher added that the event will also serve as a drop-off point for the group’s Personal Care Drive, running now through October 13.
This year, the Campaign Kickoff/Member Agency Fair will take place from 11:00a-3:00p on Saturday, September 20, at the Owasco Town Shelter behind the Owasco Volunteer Fire Department at 7194 Owasco Rd, Auburn.
The fundraising campaign will run through February.
