Residents of three Cayuga County villages will be able to join in a conversation on Wednesday about tourism along Cayuga Lake.
Cayuga, Union Springs, and Aurora residents are invited to a casual conversation with the Cayuga County Tourism Office at the Frontenac Historical Society and Museum at 178 Cayuga Street, Union Springs, on Wednesday to discuss tourism in their communities.
Courtney Kasper is the executive director of the Cayuga County Tourism Office. Speaking with FLX Local Media, she said the tourism office wants to be open and allow them to voice their opinions.
“The mission of the tourism office is not only visitor attractiveness but also making sure that our locals and residents feel heard and that they feel proud to be living in Cayuga County, so this is an opportunity for us to bring them – invite them to the table – to be more inclusive, more engaging. We really want to hear how tourism is impacting their community.”
Kasper added that three questions will be the main focus of the conversation:
- What are you proud of?
- What do residents want the tourism office to talk about when promoting these specific communities?
What are the things that residents do not want the tourism office to talk about (eg, certain fishing spots locals don’t want tourists overcrowding)?
The meeting will take place from 5:00-7:00p. Light refreshments will be provided by JW Bait & Tackle.
Kasper also said that other conversations are being planned to hear from communities across the county.
