Three children were injured, one severely, when the horse and carriage they were riding in was struck by a Ford F150 pickup truck in Cayuga County.
State Police say the accident happened around 8 Tuesday morning on State Route 90 in Locke. 30-year-old Nosakhere Griggs, of Buffalo, was driving east when he collided with the horse and carriage.
A 13-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl in the carriage were treated for minor injuries at Upstate Community Hospital in Syracuse, while a 9-year-old boy was being treated for severe injuries. Griggs was not injured.
The accident investigation is ongoing.
The New York State Police were assisted by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Locke Fire Department, and the Town of Moravia Fire Department.
