One local orchestra is celebrating the United States and paying tribute to its veterans.
The Auburn Chamber Orchestra will perform A Patriotic Salute to America where it will perform patriotic music and recognize the men and women of the armed forces. The concert will be conducted by Dr Victor Vallo Jr and feature such songs as The Star-Spangled Banner and Stars and Stripes Forever.
Kevin Swab, Cayuga County Veterans’ Service Agency (VSA) Director, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event. He told Finger Lakes News Radio that each branch will be recognized.
Veterans are going to bring the service flags forward at the beginning of the concert and then during the concert, one of the things they’re going to play is all of the service songs, so the army, the navy, and the airforce songs,” said Swab. “When they do those songs, it is customary that if you served in one of those branches, you stand up during the playing of that service song.”
The free event is open to all and will take place Sunday at 2:00p at Auburn Junior High School.
Swab added that a reception for veterans and their families will follow the concert, allowing veterans to meet with one another as well as learn more about the services provided by the VSA.
An RSVP is required for the reception and can be done by calling 315-294-8072 or emailing [email protected].
