There won’t be a nudist festival in Cayuga County this year.
Traditionally held the first week of August, Empire Haven Nudist Resort and Campground in Moravia announced in May it would cancel the annual Sentient Festival after allegations that its primary sponsor, Nudism.TV, promotes child pornography surfaced on social media.
After death threats were made against Nudism.TV founder Pasha Knight and his family, Empire Haven made the decision to cancel the festival out of concern for staff and patron safety.
“Due to Sentient Fest’s association with Nudism.TV, we feel concerned for the safety of our facilitators and participants,” the festival wrote in a press release. “While we considered the idea of rallying everyone and soldiering through this morass, in the end your safety is more important to us.”
The camp is open and plans are in the works to continue Sentient Fest next year.
