An Auburn man charged with murder in a fatal Syracuse stabbing will appear in court this week to determine if his statements to police were voluntary.
The Citizen reports Tyler Kilmer is scheduled for a suppression hearing Friday in Onondaga County Court. He was indicted for second-degree murder in December for the November 13th stabbing death of 31-year-old DeVonte Crosby. Kilmer also faces a weapons possession charge.
Syracuse police say they encountered Kilmer twice before the stabbing while responding to a domestic dispute. Initially, officers left after determining the argument between the men had calmed. Later, they returned when Kilmer was seen acting erratically outside. Unable to find a ride, officers took him to a hotel three miles away. However, police say Kilmer returned to the residence and fatally stabbed Crosby.
