It may still be winter but registration is now open for Camp Gregory.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Abigale Anderson with the Aurora based camp said that this year’s camp will feature a special community connection. The camp will have local volunteers come to camp and provide programming for children on wide range of topics ranging from animal identification and fire starting to STEM courses.
“What we’re doing this year is volunteers that have a skillset that they’re willing to come in and teach kids for an hour, two hours, whatever it may be, we want to bring those community members into the camping program.”
She said the goal of the program is to not only improve a child’s camp experience but also spark his or her interest in a variety of subjects while showcasing local talent.
“The thought process there is that the more opportunities children have to connect with whatever special skills they might have, the more well rounded and confident they’ll be as a whole,” Anderson continued. “And Cayuga county is filled with talented people… so why not reach out to the community at large.”
