What does the future hold for the former Key Bank building in Auburn?

In September, it was announced that the building, located at 115 Genesee Street, into a multiuse space dubbed The Atrium on Genessee. An open house was held the following month, allowing attendees to get a look at the downtown building’s potential.

What are the next steps to get tenants to set up shop in the 25,000 sq ft space?

Downtown Auburn Business Improvement District Executive Director Stephanie DeVito told Finger Lakes News Radio that they’re in the process of accepting inquiries from and meeting with potential tenants to discuss what they would need to move in.

“What happens next is we’re getting a lot of inquiries from people that are interested in possibly having space in that building, so once we continue to get more interest in the building, then we will set up meetings with all of them and see what their needs are, see what types of businesses they are and kind of do a vetting process to see what is going to fit into that building according to their needs,” DeVito said.

Building Manager Muldrow Properties and owners Fred Straus Inc will renovate the space to meet the needs of future tenants. DeVito added that this is something that will affect when tenants will be able to set up shop.

“As you can imagine, somebody might require or want 10,000 sq ft; somebody may only need 1,000 sq ft,” DeVito continued. “So, we’re in that process now of folks reaching out to us and us setting up meetings with all these interested folks to see if that interest will continue… If we have somebody that doesn’t need a lot of buildout and doesn’t need a lot of space, that could be a shorter amount of time for them to get into that building versus somebody who may require a little bit more of a major buildout to meet the needs of their specific business.”

If you’re interested in becoming a tenant, you can contact Muldrow Properties at either 315-252-9000 or [email protected], or Devito herself at [email protected].
