A new historical marker is coming to the History’s Hometown.

The City of Auburn has accepted a 15-hundred dollar grant from the William G Pomeroy Foundation to erect an historic marker to honor the legacy of Frances Brown.

City Clerk Chuck Mason explained her legacy.

“Frances Brown actually worked for Harriet Tubman. She was matron of the Harriet Tubman Home for the Aged, and she worked for Harriet Tubman in the final years of Harriet Tubman’s life and then remained working at the Home for the Aged for several year’s following Harriet Tubman’s death.”

The marker will be erected in front of her former home on Parker Street.
