The man who crashed a stolen car into the Owasco Outlet during a high-speed chase in Auburn has pled guilty to a multitude of charges.
According to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, Kevin Huntington Jr admitted in Cayuga County Court Thursday to violating an order of protection on August 11 in the Town of Victory before leaving the scene with a minor in the stolen vehicle, leading to a pursuit with State Police. Auburn Police joined in after he crossed the city line.
The pursuit continued even after he had run over a spike strip, flattening all four tires. After crashing the car into the outlet near McMaster Street, Huntington and the minor attempted to flee on foot but were soon apprehended by police.
During the chase, the Red Creek man swerved the vehicle at three police cars in an attempt to cause injury to the officers in the vehicles.
He also admitted to assaulting a victim two days earlier with brass knuckles on Owasco Street, requiring the victim to get stitches.
For the pursuit, Huntington pled guilty to three counts Attempted Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Unathorized Use of a Vehicle, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and Reckless Driving. He also pled guilty to Assault for the incident with brass knuckles and Criminal Contempt for violating the order of protection.
Huntington faces a seven-year determinate prison sentence followed by five years post-release supervision when sentenced in February.
