Two Cayuga County first responders were recognized for their recent actions that saved the life of a child.
After a call came into the 911 center about a child unable to breathe, Emergency Services Dispatcher Patrick DeLuca was able to talk the caller through CPR procedures until Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Androsko was able to arrive on the scene.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Sheriff Brian Schenck said this is a testament to the actions his deputies and other first responders perform to keep Cayuga County residents safe, something he is incredibly proud of.
“To know that we made a difference and saved a life certainly does make me proud of the work we do every day. We see so many negative things, so to have a positive outcome, it’s just really great to see this happen,” said Schenck.
DeLuca and Androsko each received their Lifesaving Awards on Wednesday. During the sheriff’s office’s ceremony, Road Patrol Lieutenant Matt Sloan and Sergeant Jake Slobe were able to complete their oaths of office for their recent promotions to their current ranks.
