The Fingerlakes Drive-In plans to reopen Friday.
the drive-in’s owner, Paul Meyer, told Finger Lakes News Radio that the Aurelius-based outdoor movie theatre will hold a soft opening Friday. The venue will open at 8:00p with If beginning at 9:00p followed by Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes at 10:45p.
The double-feature lineup is also planned for Saturday and Sunday.
Whether or not the drive-in would open this year was called into question after the Cayuga Nation blockaded the Clark Street Road venue’s entryway amid a legal dispute over land rights after the nation purchased a parcel of land that contained part of the driveway and screen.
Meyer argued that a 20-year lease agreement he signed with the land’s previous owner allowed him to use the space through 2034.
Last month, the drive-in announced it planned to reopen for the season in June.
