When Auburn’s annual holiday parade returns next weekend, it brings with it a new family-friendly event.
Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, Jesse Kline with the Auburn Downtown Business Improvement District said it will be three hours of live music.
“At the New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center, they will be hosting a couple of live music performances from 2:00-5:00p,” Kline said. “First up is the Auburn Chamber Orchestra, then they’ll be followed by the Julie Howard Trio.”
There will also be crafts for kids as well as hot food and drinks for sale by Taste NY.
At past holiday parades, similar music events had occurred but they haven’t been a recent addition. Kline said that the ERHC’s parade pre-show is here to stay.
Another change to this year’s parade is a new start time. This year’s parade will start at 5:00p to allow for more light as the floats line up.
The parade will follow the traditional route, beginning at the corner of East Genesee and North Fulton Streets and heading through downtown before turning onto William Street. It will continue past the parking garage and finish at City Hall where Mayor-Elect Jimmy Giannettino conduct the annual tree lighting ceremony.
Following the tree lighting, Santa and Mrs Claus be on the steps of City Hall for pictures.
The city’s 36th annual holiday parade will take place Saturday, November 25.
