The return of the Memorial Day Duck Derby to Auburn took in over over $30,000; of that amount, nearly $25,855 will go to local charities.
Gilda Brower with TomatoFest said their partnership with the Ancient Order of Hibernians has been great. Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, she said “what was wonderful about getting together and forming our partnership was that we had exactly the same desires as far as what we wanted to support and that meant a partnership made in Heaven.”
The two groups will jointly donate approximately $19,500 to ten food pantries throughout Cayuga County and the Hibernians will give roughly $6,500 to Auburn Rotary’s Warm the Children.
Brower adds the Duck Derby is back as a staple of Memorial Day celebrations as the partnership plans to continue the event. The groups took over the derby from the Kiwanis Club.
TomatoFest and the Hibernians would also like to thank Onondaga Coach who has worked with two the groups to help put on the event.
