Stephanie DeVito hopes to win a seat on the Cayuga County Legislature in November.
DeVito, who is the executive director of the Auburn Downtown BID hopes to take her skills to help the county as a whole.
She told Finger Lakes News Radio, “I feel that my connections, my networking, my support, and the daily work that I do with the city and with the county will definitely elevate and help me to make a better difference at the county level as a county legislator”
Workforce and economic development are at the top of DeVito’s agenda. Through her position with the Downtown BID, she is on the Micron Workforce Development Committee. She believes that, if elected to the legislature, she’ll be able to use her combination of roles to benefit Cayuga County.
“With all the things that I’m involved in, I try to tie them all to my job and I try to make sure that they’re going to feed off one another,” DeVito added.
Aside from her economic views, DeVito hopes to protect the health of Owasco Lake, the source of Auburn’s drinking water as well as push for a county manager to facilitate county operations on a daily basis.
DeVito is running on the Democrat and Working Families lines for the District 10 seat which covers Auburn’s southeast side. She faces off against Republican and Conservative-backed Michael Pettigrass.
