Stephanie DeVito, Executive Director of the Business Improvement District, says the biggest concern they’re facing is staffing. Speaking on FLX Morning, Devito said “the number one thing that I hear consistently is workforce. Many of our businesses, as well as other communities and other BIDs, are really struggling with staffing.” She added that the staffing issues affect a business’ hours of operation. “A lot of our businesses still have COVID hours… it’s not that they don’t want to be open; it’s that they don’t have the staffing to facilitate those extended hours,” DeVito said. According to her, downtown’s businesses were able to sustain themselves well during the pandemic.
