The date is set for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the West End Arts Campus.
Funded by Auburn’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative, the project saw a series of site and facility upgrades at the Cayuga Museum and Schweifurth Art Center. Work included walkways put in to connect the neighboring institutions, the creation of an ADA-compliant entrance at the Schweinfurth, ADA enhancements at the museum’s entrance, parking lot improvements at both facilities, and green space work.
During construction, the Cayuga Museum closed its doors and opened a new temporary location downtown. It remained there until late November.
While the Schweinfurth had to close its galleries for construction, its clay studio, summer arts camp, classes, offices, and gift shop were able to remain open.
Ground broke on the multi-million dollar project last May, and in October, Mayor Jimmy Giannetinno announced additional DRI funding would be allocated to the project, bringing the total amount of DRI support to $2,253,974.
The ribbon cutting will take place on Friday, May 2, at 1:00p.
