Haley Boothe is a curator at the museum. Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, she said staff are excited to continue to share the county’s history while the improvements are being made at the original 203 Genesee St location.
“We’re so excited to be in the heart of downtown Auburn! It has been amazing to see the space take shape. We took a little bit from every corner of the museum to make this space really feel true to our story and mission,” said Boothe.
Cayuga Museum Downtown currently showcases the history of Downtown Auburn and offers hands-on activities for visitors of all ages. There is also a room dedicated to Ted Case and the invention of sound-on-film, at topic normally covered at the Case Research Lab located on the museum’s campus.
Director of Development and Outreach, Geoff Starks, previously told Finger Lakes News Radio that the change in venue won’t affect the museum’s normal programming.
“The plan is for us to do a number of speaker events there, smaller workshops, and things like that; so, it’s actually really an ideal programming space,” said Starks.
While downtown, the museum will be open Monday, Wednesday – Saturday from 10:00a-4:00p. Admission will be free.
The museum expects to remain downtown through September.
