The date is set for Cayuga County’s annual tire recycling event.
Hosted by the Cayuga County Planning Department, Cayuga County Soil and Water District, and Cornell Cooperative Extension, the event will allow county residents to drop off up to 40 tires to be recycled. Proof of residency may be requested.
By recycling tires, residents help reduce the risk of wildfires and remove potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which may spread the West Nile Virus or EEE.
Solid rubber tires, bobcat tires, crawler tracks, and aircraft tires will not be accepted. Tires also must not exceed 36″ in diameter.
Tires under 30″ will cost $2.00 to be recycled, while those over 30″ will cost $5.00.
The tire recycling event will take place from 8:00-11:00a on June 7 at 7413 County House Rd, Auburn, next to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
