An upcoming concert at Auburn’s Falcon Park will help raise money for a Gold Star Mothers Memorial in Cayuga County.
Presented by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 0704 and American Legion Post #1776, the family-friendly fundraiser will feature national recording and touring artist Held Hostage along with several opening acts.
There will also be bounce houses from Feocco’s Family Inflatables, Italian ice from Muzzi’s D’italia Ice, and the Outsiderz truck club will be holding a mini vehicle show.
Kevin Swab is the director of the Cayuga County Veteran Service Agency. He told Finger Lakes News Radio that the agency is assisting by sponsoring veterans to attend the event with the first 100 veterans getting in free as well as receiving a free hot dog and drink.
All proceeds from the event will go to help erect a memorial to gold star mothers – mothers who have lost their children during combat while serving in the military.
“Especially the Vietnam veterans. [They] wanted to honor the gold star families, said Swab. “Not just mothers, it’s families but under the banner of gold star mothers.”
According to Swab, the plan is to erect the memorial near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Aqueduct Park in the Town of Brutus.
The fundraiser will run from 11:00a-4:00p on Saturday, October 5 with a rain date scheduled for the following Saturday. Admission is $5.00 per person or $10.00 for families.
