Competition Raises 1,600 Cans of Food for Cayuga County Pantries

The numbers are in and 1,600 cans of food have been raised for Cayuga County food pantries.

The donations come from the canned food drive competition between the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and APE Scare and Care Inc that took place Saturday as part of the 38th Annual Tomatofest.

As for a winner, Tomatofest officials told Finger Lakes News Radio the competition was too close to call and have declared a tie between the two organizations Both groups will be invited to compete again at next year’s event in a battle royale.

Money raised by Tomatofest will also be donated to each participating pantry. Those pantries are Brutus, Calvary, Cato, Fair Haven, King Ferry, Moravia, Port Byron, the Salvation Army, and Union Springs.

Tomatofest thanks all those who participated. The group looks forward to 2024.
