The Cayuga Nation Court has ordered the owner of a Montezuma smoke shop to turn over his shop.
The nation claimed the court issued a writ of execution ordering Dustin Parker to relinquish the premises of Pipekeepers at 7153 NY 90 in the town.
According to the nation, Parker began selling marijuana and cigarettes in 2021 while claiming sovereignty from federal and state oversight, kicking off the legal dispute. Parker never received permission from them to operate Pipekeepers as a sovereign enterprise, violating its business ordinance
Parker has hoped to restrain the writ by filing a motion in Cayuga County Supreme Court; however, the nation claims the motion pertains to an unrelated 2023 judgment it tried to domesticate. He also filed an appeal with the nation’s appellate court.
The nation added that it expects the Office of Cannabis Management to take action against Pipekeepers as it is operating without a license from either the nation or the state.
