As part of the special programming to supplement its exhibit on Cayuga County’s contributions to the Korean War, the Cayuga Museum of History & Art will hold a free film series at its Carriage House Theater.

Michael Reiff, teacher of Film and Literature at Ithaca High School, will introduce each of the three films that relate to the Korean War, and a discussion will follow each screening. The films being screened are:

June 28: The Manchurian Candidate (1962)
July 12: Pork Chop Hill (1959)
July 26: Devotion (2022)

All screenings begin at 2:00p and attendance is free.

The series is made possible through the support of the Nelson B Delavan Foundation Part A and the New York State Council on the Arts.

In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the conflict’s start, the Cayuga Museum is currently hosting an exhibit exploring the county’s role in the Korean War. Titled 6-25: Local Perspectives of the Korean War, the exhibit features items, photos, and stories of locals who fought in the war.

Lasting from June 1950 to July 1953, nearly 1.8 million Americans served in the Korean War, with approximately 36,000 losing their lives. Locally, over 1,000 men and women from Cayuga County were involved in the conflict, with 25 giving their lives.
