Will Cayuga County get a lakefront hotel?
The Cayuga County Tourism Office has contracted with hospitality consultancy REVPAR International to conduct a lodging feasibility study on the possibility of a lakefront hotel within the county.
Five sites were shortlisted as having the most interest to potential developers. Three of those sites – White Bridge Road, Sand Beach Road, and East Lake Road – would be on Owasco Lake near Emerson Park. Another location would be in Union Springs near MacDonald Point on Cayuga Lake. Rounding out the five potential spots was Colloca Estate Winery in Fair Haven, along Lake Ontario.
Tourism Executive Director Karen Kuhl says a hotel would be a valuable asset.
“Their report confirms our suspicion that there is significant value in developing properties in the area,” Kuhl told Finger Lakes News Radio. “And then from the scouting and locations that were identified, these were the five that rose to the top.”
The office’s next step is to see if the sites are truly open and available for development.
