SHARE NOW

Between 2016 and 2022, there were 46 fatal and 2,513 Personal Injury Vehicle Crashes in Cayuga County.

That’s according to data released by the Sheriff’s Office which lists the top five contributing factors to these crashes as driver inattention/distraction, unsafe speed, failure to yield the right of way, slippery pavement, and following too closely.

The Sheriff’s Office adds it will work to combat these factors in an effort to keep the roadways safe.

They’ll also be teaming up with Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Farm Bureau Thursday to host a slow moving vehicle meeting at the Ward O’Hara Agricultural Museum. That meeting starts at 5:30p.
