Cayuga County Remains in Emergency State over Migrants

SHARE NOW

Cayuga County remains in a state of emergency.

Legislature Chairman David Gould has signed another executive order barring entities from contracting with any municipality other than the county to provide shelter, food, transportation, or medical care to asylum seekers.

Violating the order can result in a fine of $2,000 per migrant per day of being in violation.

The declaration cites the efforts of other municipalities to transfer asylum seekers upstate without planning for the cost of providing them with vital services, as the reason for its implementation.

Just like those signed on the 20th and 25th, this order will last for five days.
