Cayuga County Plans for New Voting Machines

SHARE NOW

When Cayuga County residents cast their ballots in November, they may be doing so on new voting machines.

That’s what the county’s Board of Elections is hoping for.

Speaking with The Citizen, Democratic Elections Commissioner Keith Batman said the goal is to procure and use the new machines during this November’s elections so poll workers will be familiar with the technology heading into next year’s presidential election.

Batman estimates the cost to replace the current machines, which have been in use for 14 years, would cost at least 50-thousand dollars, something that would need approval from the legislature.
