Cayuga County Early Voting: Who’s on the Ballot & Where to Vote?

Early voting for local, state, and federal primaries begins Saturday.

On the federal stage, Cayuga County has been split into two congressional districts with each district having its own primaries this election cycle.

Republicans in Aurelius, Brutus, Cato, Conquest, Ira, Mentz, Montezuma, Sterling, Throop, and Victory will have the option to vote for incumbent Representative Claudia Tenney or Geneva challenger Mario Fratto in the state’s 24th Congressional District primary. The winner will face Democrat David Wagenhouser in November.

Democrats in Auburn, Fleming, Genoa, Ledyard, Locke, Moravia, Niles, Owasco, Scipio, Sempronius, Sennett, Springport, Summerhill, and Venice will choose either State Senator John Mannion or DeWitt Town Councilor Sarah Klee Hood to be their party’s nominee for the state’s 22nd Congressional District race. The winner of the primary will try to unseat Brandon Williams, the incumbent and Cayuga County native.

Regardless of where in the county one lives, Republicans will be able to vote in the primary for the 48th State Senate District. Caleb Slater and Fanny Villarreal are vying for the GOP’s nomination as they look to take on incumbent State Senator Rachel May, a Democrat. The district comprises all of Cayuga County and the City of Syracuse and the Towns of Elbridge, Fabius, LaFayette, Lysander, Marcellus, Onondaga, Pompey, Skaneateles, Spafford, Tully, and Van Buren in Onondaga County.

Republicans in Sempronius will also have the option of voting for either Jason Daniel Kemp or Patricia L Lee as the GOP’s nominee for Highway Supervisor.
