Cayuga Counseling Receives $3M to Combat Childhood Trauma

Nearly $3 million in federal funding is coming to address childhood trauma in Cayuga County.

According to The Citizen, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration will give $2.9 million to Cayuga Counseling Services over the next five years to create a community treatment and service center for any child within the county who has experienced trauma.

The organization will collaborate with local groups such as the sheriff’s office, local school districts, and East Hill Medical Center to provide their services which are expected to begin in January 2024 at its 17 Genesee Street location.
