Christmas is coming early to Cayuga County.
Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Program’s (CAP) Cayuga County Christmas Elf toy drive is partnering with Friends of Emerson Park for its first-ever Christmas in July toy drive.
Carolynn Moore has been a volunteer with the program for nearly 30 years. She told Finger Lakes News Radio that CAP volunteers will be at three concerts held at Emerson Park in July to collect new, unwrapped toys to distribute to Cayuga County families in need in December.
The Christmas Elf program will be at the following concerts:
July 11 – Prison City Rockers
July 18 – Traxx
July 25 – Jess Novak Band
All shows will run 6:00-9:00p
Moore added that two QR codes will also be available to make donating easier.
“One will be to scan and make a monetary donation,” Moore said. “The other one, you scan it and it goes right to the Amazon Wishlist for Christmas Elves and you can buy something and it automatically gets delivered to CAP. That’s something new.”
Aside from toys, the program also distributes books, coloring books, crayons, and gift certificates for Christmas dinners to families in need.
Last year, the Christmas Elf program was able to collect gifts for 532 families helping 1,394 children.
