With SNAP benefits frozen and the holiday season approaching, Community Action Programs (CAP) Cayuga/Seneca is seeking community support to help feed neighbors in need.

CAP is asking for monetary and food donations to help stock its food pantry. Monetary donations can be made online. Checks, made payable to CSCAA, can be mailed or dropped off at its Auburn office, located at 89 York St, Suite 1.

For those who would like to donate food items, CAP has said it is most in need of the following items: canned tuna, chicken, beans, and soup, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauce, rice, cereal and oatmeal, and juice. Donations can be dropped off at the Auburn office.

To help with the expected increased need at the food pantry. CAP is also seeking volunteers to assist the pantry. Those interested in volunteering are asked to call 315-255-1703 ext 141 or [email protected] for information on how to get involved.

Those interested in hosting a food drive or donating food can call 315-255-1703 ext 155 or email [email protected].

CAP said in an average month, its food pantry serves 1,112 individuals, including 363 children.
