One area museum is celebrating Black History Month with four days of activities for families with young children.

The Cayuga Museum is inviting families with children under 12 to participate in its special Creative Explorers programming from 10:00a-12:00p on February 19, 20, and 21. Each day will feature a unique activity and story time focusing on black history.

Feb 19:

– Activity: Make and Take your own Lego Museum!
– Story Time Book – “Words Set Me Free: The Story of Young Frederick Douglass”

Feb 20:

– Activity: DIY Flip Book
– Story Time Book – “Before She Was Harriet”

Feb 21:

– Activity: Harriet Tubman lantern
– Story Time Book – “Freedom’s a-Callin’ Me”

Additionally, on February 22, Harriet Tubman National Historical Park Ranger Brittany Lane will hold a special story time at 11:00a. Kids can also participate in a scavenger hunt and create their own paper lanterns in honor of Harriet Tubman as part of the museum’s first Family Free Day of 2025.

Admission to each program is free for families with children 12 and under.
