AuroraFest to Pay Tribute to Wells College

SHARE NOW

When AuroraFest returns for its third consecutive year next month, it will pay tribute to Wells College.

Erin Weber is helping to organize the event. She told Finger Lakes News Radio that it was important to honor an organization that has been instrumental in shaping the village on the east shore of Cayuga Lake.

“It was really important for us to include Wells,” said Weber. “Aurora would not be what it is without Wells. The community is incredibly interconnected with the college in more ways than one.”

Attendees are encouraged to wear Wells College apparel and colors.

As is tradition, the annual parade is led by a woman chosen to act as the Goddess of Aurora. For this year’s parade, the goddess will be a former Wells employee. Alumni of the college are encouraged to join the parade by following behind her.

AuroraFest is also celebrating the 160th anniversary of Cayuga Lake National Bank, the 125th anniversary of the Aurora Free Library, and the 20th anniversary of the Book Lovers Ball.

AuroraFest will take place on August 24 at the Wells College Golf Club where there will be food and drinks, crafts, vendors, live music, and games. Below is a schedule of events.

9:00a – Yoga and Run
3:00p – Parade
4:00p Steam Boiler Works
5:00p – Witchy Women
6:00-9:00p – Petty Thieves
