A resolution regarding a police cruiser totaled in a collision earlier this fall was tabled by the Auburn City Council during last Thursday’s meeting.
According to Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason, the resolution initially proposed that the city would receive $5,000 in reimbursement for the vehicle. Mayor Jimmy Giannettino suggested giving the city more time to work with staff, the city manager, and the city controller to seek full reimbursement from the other driver’s insurance company.
The council unanimously agreed to table the resolution for a future meeting while officials gather the necessary documentation and negotiate with the insurance company. Mason noted the resolution may return in a revised form once the legal and insurance processes play out.
City officials expect to have more updates in the coming weeks as they continue working to recover the full cost of the cruiser.
