If you live in Auburn, you still have time to make your voice heard on how the city should distribute its 2024-2025 Community Development Block Grant funding.
The City will hold a public hearing this Thursday at 1:00p at Council Chambers.
The money is used for neighborhood improvements such as work on sidewalks, parks, and playgrounds. For example, past funding has been used on the Bradford Street Playground and the city’s new skate park at Casey Park. The redesign of the playground at Wall Street Park will also benefit from CDBG funding.
Earlier this month, City Clerk Chuck Mason said on FLX Morning that community input directly relates to the projects the city undertakes each year.
“One of the exciting things about seeing this money come to the city every year is that it’s very driven by the public comments we receive and then the money is spent within the year, so you can see the public’s input being put right into programming,” Mason said.
Mason added that the city typically gets $800,000-$900,000 annually from the federal grant program.
