Auburn is settling two claims against opioid manufacturers.
City Council has agreed to accept settlement agreements from Target and Henry Schein Inc. for their roles in the national opioid epidemic. In September, Target agreed to a $14 million settlement to resolve all claims related to its role in the epidemic. Henry Schein Inc. agreed to pay $900,000.
The amount the city will receive has yet to be determined; however, agreeing to the settlement was a necessary step for Auburn to receive funds, something it did at Thursday’s city council meeting.
Last year, $87,000 awarded to the city from a different opioid settlement was split evenly between Nick’s Ride for Friends and CHAD – Confidential Help for Alcohol and Drugs.
