An Auburn nurse has received a DAISY Award for her work at Auburn Community Hospital.
Emergency Department nurse Rose Carnicelli was honored with a DAISY Team Award for Extraordinary Nursing.
Carnicelli was nominated by RN and Staff Educator Pamela Seamans for her empathy, sense of humor, and compassion.
“Rose works in the ER, and I have seen her handle numerous situations with a wonderful sense of humor, empathy, and compassionate caring. This is not just for the patients but is extended out to her fellow co-workers. I had recently seen these wonderful qualities in action with a patient who was in the ED for an extended time. She went above and beyond to try to give this patient a feeling of normalcy. She was able to help the patient recognize things that were concerning, and work with the patient on skills that helped to de-escalate the situation. She truly works hard to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. The actions that I have described above show how dedicated she is to aspire and achieving the highest standards of care for our patients. She is in my professional opinion an extraordinary professional,” stated Seamans.
The award is given quarterly and recipients are given a certificate, a pin, and a sculpture. The certificate reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” The sculpture, called The Healer’s Touch, represents the bond between nurses and their patients.
Bonnie Barnes, FAAN, President, and Co-Founder of The DAISY Foundation stated, “our family experienced first-hand the remarkable skill and care nurses provide patients every day and night. Yet, these unsung heroes are seldom recognized for the super-human work they do. The kind of work the nurses at Auburn Community Hospital are called on to do every day epitomizes the purpose of The DAISY Award.”
“We are proud to be included among the healthcare organizations participating in the DAISY Award program. The nurses provide patients with extraordinary care every day. I believe that it is important for our nurses to know that their work is highly valued, and The DAISY Foundation is one way that enables us to do that,” stated Chief Nursing Officer Dr. Emily Brooks.
