An Auburn native has been named the new President and CEO of the Auburn YMCA-WEIU.
Scott Sincerbeaux will officially begin his role on April 14. The 1986 Auburn High grad said he is excited to lead the community institution, one that he knows very well.
“The Auburn YMCA was a safe and formative place for me growing up,” said Sincerbeaux. “It’s where I swam, played basketball, and learned the value of community. My wife Jeanne and I have always believed that giving back to the community is our expressed path to gratitude, and I’m honored to return home to serve an organization that has meant so much to me.”
In announcing the appointment, the Auburn YMCA-WEIU Board of Directors said Sincerbeaux has held CEO and senior leadership roles with nationally recognized consumer brands. They added that throughout his career, he has built a reputation for transformative leadership, team development, and organizational growth. In addition to his corporate achievements, Sincerbeaux has been a community volunteer, fundraiser, and board member—supporting causes such as the American Cancer Society, United Way, Family Promise of West Michigan, and youth education and athletics.
“We are thrilled to welcome Scott home to Auburn,” said Bob Scarbrough, Chair of the Auburn YMCA-WEIU Board of Directors. “He brings not only decades of executive leadership experience but also a servant-leader mindset and a deep personal connection to this community. Scott understands the impact the Y can have on a person’s life—because he lived it.”
In his first 90 days, Sincerbeaux plans to take a “listen to learn” approach—meeting with staff, members, community partners, and the board to understand their hopes, challenges, and ideas. He will focus on strengthening operations, enhancing member experiences, and building toward the Y’s long-term facility and strategic goals.
“Scott’s return to Auburn is more than a homecoming—it’s a new chapter of purpose, growth, and impact for the Auburn YMCA,” said Scarbrough.
Sincerbeaux shared “Walking into the Y brought back so many memories and emotions from my youth. My journey began at the Y more than 45 years ago. In that time, I’ve worked and traveled the world in order to have the ability to come back home. I look forward to working with our community to make sure that legacy of service and support that helped me thrive continues for generations to come.”
