An Auburn man has received the maximum sentence for the attempted rape of a 17-year-old.
According to Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci, 49-year-old Gerald Hoffman was convicted in May of Attempted Rape and Sexual Abuse, both violent felonies, during a jury trial.
On Thursday, Hoffman was sentenced to 15 years behind bars followed by 15 years post-release supervision for the attempted rape charge and seven years in prison followed by 10 years post-release supervision for the sexual assault charge. By law, both sentences will run concurrently.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Heather De Stefano and Assistant District Attorney Amanda Casselman handled the prosecution while the Auburn Police Department handled the investigation.
