The City of Auburn is still seeking your input on how to best distribute its 2024-2025 Community Development Block Grant funding.
The city has launched a new online survey where residents can give their opinion on how the money should be spent.
Speaking on FLX Morning, City Clerk Chuck Mason said community input directly relates to the projects the city undertakes each year.
“One of the exciting things about seeing this money come to the city every year is that it’s very driven by the public comments we receive and then the money is spent within the year, so you can see the public’s input being put right into programming,” Mason said.
Past CDBG funding has been used on the Bradford Street Playground and the new skate park at Casey Park. A portion of the future funding has already been allocated for work on the redesign of the playground at Wall Street Park.
The City of Auburn gets between $800,000 and $900,000 annually and this is money that we will put into a lot of neighborhood improvements such as sidewalks, street trees, and park and playground improvements,” Mason added.
The CDBG program is an annual program by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development that provides grant funding to states, cities, and counties so they can develop viable urban communities through the expansion of economic opportunities and by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment.
A public hearing on the funding will take place November 30th at 1:00p at City Hall. You can take the survey by clicking here.
