A Syracuse man could spend the next 15 years of his life behind bars after being found guilty of two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
32-year old Chanchhayavan Chourb was found guilty on all counts after a three day trial.
According to Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci, at approximately 1:00a on July 1st of last year, Chourb was pulled over in Auburn for failing to use a turn single. He was found to only have had a learner’s permit and therefore was not able to drive alone. After getting out of the car, Chourb fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.
A large bag of cocaine was found by police on South Street near where Chourb fled. Ultimately he was found to be in possession of approximately six grams of powder cocaine and over three grams of crack cocaine.
Chourb is due back in court on June 29th for sentencing.
