Auburn Community Hospital has announced updated masking requirements in response to rising levels of influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 in the community.
On Friday, hospital officials said masks are now required for all employees, physicians, students, volunteers, vendors, and contract workers in all areas of the hospital, as well as at all Auburn Community Hospital, Auburn Memorial Medical Services, and Finger Lakes Community locations.
Masking is strongly encouraged for patients and visitors. Masks are available throughout the hospital and outpatient facilities for those who need them.
Hospital officials say the updated guidance is intended to reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses and protect vulnerable patients, especially those with compromised immune systems or other health risks.
The hospital thanked patients and visitors for their cooperation and said the measures are part of an ongoing effort to keep the community safe during the respiratory virus season.
Earlier this week, Rochester Regional Health announced a new temporary masking policy as influenza cases continue to climb across Monroe County and New York State. All visitors, patients, and staff are required to wear masks while inside RRH hospital facilities.
