The Cayuga Museum will hold two lectures later this month.
The first will take place on April 25 from 12:00-1:00p as part of the museum’s Lunchtime Lecture series. Tying in with the current exhibit Making History: Stories of Industry in Auburn, Lt Brian Jessie of the Auburn Fire Department, will deliver a lecture on how the fire department evolved in parallel with the city’s industrial growth.
This event is free to attend. It will also be livestreamed by Auburn Regional Media Access. To view the livestream, please contact Geoff Starks at [email protected].
The second will take place at 1:00p on Sunday, April 27. Hosted by writer and historian Austin Reid, Vanished but Not Forgotten: The Legacy of Cayuga County’s Jewish Community will explore the history of Jewish life in Auburn and Cayuga County. The talk will explore B’Nai Israel from its 19th-century beginnings to its closure in 2013. Key Jewish figures like Assemblyman George Michaels and Auburn Mayor Maurice Schwartz will also be discussed.
This is a ticketed event with tickets costing $10 for the general public and $5 for museum members. Museum guest passes can also be redeemed for the program. Tickets can be purchased at the door, on the museum’s website, or by calling 315-253-8051.
Both events will be held at the Carriage House Theater behind the museum.
