The Auburn Downtown Business Improvement District is launching a new initiative to engage downtown businesses.

Speaking on FLX Morning BID Executive Director, Stephanie DeVito, said she plans on meeting with individual businesses through her new Coffee and Conversation initiative to hear their specific thoughts and concerns.

“I think I can reach more people in that type of setting and really learn from each organization and business of what their needs are then bring it back to the office to implement that into a really collective effort to keep enhancing the downtown BID,” DeVito told Finger Lakes News Radio.

She added that she was inspired to create the initiative after being invited to the Auburn YMCA to meet with their clients and discuss the BID.

“I thought it was a phenomenal idea and it was a really huge success,” DeVito continued. “I talked to them about what BID does, who BID is, why we do what we do, and what our goals are, anything they possibly needed to know about BID.”

After the talk, she was able to answer questions attendees had concerning the district.

DeVito hopes to visit two businesses per month for one-on-one informal meetings.

Established over 20 years ago, the BID’s goal is to promote current businesses as well as attract new ones to Auburn’s downtown. This is done through beautification projects and events like the annual flower pot program and Chicken Wing Festival.
