Auburn Community Hospital has announced the addition of Dr. Christopher Scibelli, a nationally recognized surgeon and U.S. Navy veteran, to its Auburn Heart & Vascular Institute.
Dr. Scibelli brings nearly two decades of surgical experience, including distinguished service at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, and with the Fleet Marine Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. As a member of Fleet Surgical Team 8, he provided critical surgical care aboard amphibious assault ships and in combat zones during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and the Global War on Terror.
Following his military service, Dr. Scibelli returned to the Finger Lakes region, where he has practiced medicine since 2015. He now joins Auburn Community Hospital to expand its vascular surgery services.
“This unique opportunity to develop vascular surgery capability at Auburn Community Hospital is the culmination of my past 18 years in the field,” Dr. Scibelli said. “I am excited to offer vascular surgical care tailored to each patient’s unique clinical situation.”
A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and Temple University School of Medicine, Dr. Scibelli was named “Trauma Resident of the Year” during his time at Christiana Care Health Services in Delaware.
Hospital leaders praised the addition of Dr. Scibelli to the team.
“Having Dr. Scibelli on staff strengthens our already respected surgical team and supports our mission of delivering high-quality care in a community setting,” said Auburn Community Hospital President and CEO Scott Berlucchi.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jamie Syrett added, “Adding a surgeon of his caliber and expertise is a huge plus not only for ACH, but for the region as a whole.”
Dr. Scibelli lives in Canandaigua with his wife Amy Lynn and their two children.
