Auburn Celebrating Earth Day with River Clean-up & Community Swap Shop

Auburn is once again preparing for its annual Earth Day celebrations later this month.

On April 26, the city will hold its annual Owasco River clean-up. The event will begin at 9:30a with a tour of the Mill Street Hydroelectric Facility. Following the tour, volunteers can help clean up the area around the river from the dam to Market Street Park until 12:00p.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Mill Street Dam and bring their own gloves and rakes. Garbage bags, leaf bags, and other supplies will be provided.

After the clean-up event, a community swap shop from 12:00-3:00p at Auburn Public Theater. Supporting the reuse of items no longer wanted or needed, participants can bring five to ten clean, usable household items that can be swapped with other community members. Electronics cannot be accepted at this event.

Items can be brought to the theater or dropped off with the Auburn Beautification Commission from 10:00-11:00a at the Mill Street Dam.
