Auburn will get new electric vehicle charging stations.
City Council voted to accept $80,288 in grant funding from New York State at its Thursday meeting to install three charging stations downtown, each with two charging points, for a total capacity to charge six vehicles at once.
Currently, the city has two public charging stations at the parking garage, which, according to City Clerk Chuck Mason, receive heavy usage.
Mason adds these new stations will help make the city a more attractive place for tourism, telling Finger Lakes News Radio “visitors that are travelling are relying on the ability to find these public charging stations.”
The city hopes these charging stations will be installed by year’s end at its Dill Street parking lot.
